Variety is the Spice of Life

There are no less than 36 varieties of oysters currently available along US and Canadian shores. And Chef Chamberlain takes advantage of this variety to your benefit. Feel free to call ahead to see what’s on the menu. Or come and savor the surprise! Reservations are advised.

It would be interesting to see who has sampled the greatest variety of oysters from around the globe! What’s on your list?

Months with R’s – Fact or Fiction?

There was a time when oysters were only eaten “in season.” And for good reason.

It’s the warmer months that all happen to have no R’s, May through August. Luckily, we and the industry have come a long way in refrigeration and transportation making life much better for oyster lovers. The oysters you’re enjoying at Chamberlain’s this evening were comfortable in their saltwater homes earlier in the day!

There are two other strikes against oysters and warmer weather and water. Summer is when oysters spawn somewhat negatively impacting their flavor and texture. And too, bacteria can be more prevalent.

Both of these factors affect availability. Rest assured, a restaurant the caliber of Chamberlain’s remains aware of what shellfish are going to delight their diners every time!

Another Myth, Sorry to Say

Well, you’re in luck if you are susceptible to the placebo effect! Otherwise, there is no sufficient proof that oysters do, in fact, act as an aphrodisiac. Come, enjoy fresh oysters in Dallas anyway. And pretend.

A Healthy Obsession

As luck would have it, these little delicacies are low in calories, and also a good protein source. You’ll get about 50 calories and 12 grams of protein per half dozen.

“What about those beautiful sauces and sides on that magnificent platter?” you ask. Among other things, you might find horseradish, fresh lemon, ginger mignonette, and cocktail sauce. All of these are low to hardly negligible in calories. Nothing to worry about!

Other nutrients packed into these shellfish are also pretty phenomenal. A 3.5 oz serving can provide 100% of your daily vitamin B 12, zinc, and copper. And 75% of your selenium and Vitamin D.

A nice touch and also very nutritious, we offer to add caviar when available.
